About the Austin Studio Tour
The Austin Studio Tour features Austin-based artists and collaboratives in a citywide celebration of art in Austin.
Origin is thrilled to host artists taylor barnes and Jacob Guzman in our gallery this year.
Origin’s Gallery will be open both weekends of the Austin Studio Tour:

About Jacob Guzman
Title: Day at the Stu
The works on display capture Guzman’s range of capability. A common topic in the works displayed is self-reflection and the artist asks for the viewer(s) to take a second and close their eyes when entering a new space, allowing themselves to properly transfer, discard or allow new energy coming from this body of work. Varying heavily from size to medium, there’s a shared sense of familiarity in all of the works on display. Guzman’s mission with this is to remind us to experiment, keep things playful and to not forget why you started in the first place.
About taylor barnes
Title : Break
Known for her use of charcoal to explore the Black figure through light and shadow, this show examines the confines and limitations imposed on the Black body through social constructs, stereotypes, and otherization. Through the use of repetition and a diagrammatic exploration and unraveling of enclosures, barnes’ deconstructs the ephemeral “cage” that is inflicted onto Blackness and draws attention to the anatomical manifestations of social constructions.
